Sleepover update

Jadyn and Daddy told stories, read books by flashlight, and then said 'goodnight' and headed to their respective bunks.

Thirty minutes later, Jadyn, still awake climbed down the ladder and told Daddy she needed to go potty. She quickly took care of business and came back, said goodnight again, and climbed back up to her top bunk.

Twenty-five minutes later, Mark felt a hand on his arm and turned to see Jadyn standing next to his bunk. "Daddy, I have to go potty again."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes - I think I have more potties"

"Okay, go quickly, but this needs to be the last time. We need to sleep."

"Okay." She left and came back quickly. "I did have a little bit of potties."

"Honey, are you having a hard time sleeping?"

"Yes" - with a big smile.

"Are you too excited to sleep because Daddy is in your room with you?"

With a blushing smile, "Yeah. I'm just so excited that I cannot sleep. I like having a sleepover."

Daddy smiled. "Would it be easier for you if I went downstairs and waited until you fell asleep and then came back up to bed?"

Jadyn, without hesitation, replies, "Yeah."

So I tucked her in one last time, gave her a kiss, and said goodnight.

So here I am, downstairs, and in a bit I'll head back up and head to bed. So our first sleepover is a bit unconvetional, but the excitement Jadyn has is just precious. So goodnight!

A special night

Jadyn finally got to have her first official sleepover. She has been waiting for the chance ever since she got her bunk beds. She was so excited, she was even making up a song about it while waiting for her bunkmate to get ready for bed. She gets to sleep on the top bunk for the very first time also- which is the big exciting part! I took a couple of pictures before lights out. Enjoy!Karina helped to get Jadyn's top bunk just right for snuggling into.
All cuddled up and ready for the night.
Jadyn also tucked in Daddy- she even gave him Jacobs the bear to sleep with!
What it might look like if they were really asleep.
I am sure they will eventually get there, but first they are taking care of important business. (Currently, I hear stories and see flashlight shadows coming from the room.) Have a good night guys!

Karina's Box

Daddy's Fire Engine

After the Children's Museum, we stopped briefly at Mark's new Fire Station. He is at station 34 now, not too far away from his old station. The girls love to see and play where Daddy works. Here are a few of my favorite pictures: Jadyn's favorite place in any station is the "turny-twisty" chair!

Fun in Seattle

Last weekend, we went to the Seattle Children's Museum to see the new Bob the Builder exhibit. The girls always have so much fun there! It was even better this time because we went with our friends, Chad and Cindy, and their 2 boys, Andrew and Nicholas. We had a great day together chasing children around. Of course, Jadyn is already asking us when we get to play with them again. Karina's favorite spot was petting Bob's cat, Pilchard.
Jadyn driving Muck, one of the many friends you could drive there.
Andrew and Jadyn concentrating hard on designing blueprints.
Andrew and Jadyn trying out the slide.
Working hard in the grocery store together.

Is your face funny, too?

That's normal.
But normal is boring...
Can you guess what kind of faces Mark & Jadyn are making...?

Nap time?

Our cat can sleep through just about anything- even her girls loving on her!

Rainy Days

On yet another rainy day, the girls find some fun things to do around the house.
Jadyn and Karina both love playing on the computer.Beans, beans, beans!

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was Mark's 30th birthday. We had a fun afternoon with family. Mark's parents, his brother Nick with his wife Stephany and their new baby, all came to celebrate with us. We went out to Olive Garden for lunch and then came back to our place for the cake and candle blowing festivities. We had a great time!

Mark got a set of golf clubs- now he doesn't have to borrow them anymore!

Jadyn and Karina worked hard to make Daddy a new pillowcase to take with him to the fire station. Shown is the side with him driving a fire engine next to the fire station. We will post better pictures soon.

Jadyn and Karina loving their baby cousin!

Karina just had to try out Caelan's car seat. It's amazing that not too long ago, she was actually using that same chair!

Falling in love...

We were listening to the girls' most recent favorite song this afternoon "Oh-Oh, I'm Falling In Love Again" by Jimmy Rodgers. Jadyn asked me what it meant to "fall in love" with someone. After my explanation and many questions, she decided: "I'll fall in love when I get married one day. Then I will have kids and babies and I get to be the boss. I like being the boss! Boss and moss rhyme- but I don't think I want to be the boss of moss." Isn't it nice to know that in order to be the boss all you have to do is fall in love and have babies? Life should be so easy!

All drains lead to the ocean, right?

We have had a big Nemo balloon in our house for the last month and a half. It is now looking flat and doesn't float anymore, so I told Jadyn that we needed to get rid of it. Remembering what we have done with our fish in the past that have had this same problem, she asked: "Should we flush it?" I guess that is the proper way to get rid of a dead fish if you are 4. No worries~Nemo did not go down the drain. All toilets are still in working order.

Jadyn and Katie

I just got this sent to me and couldn't help but post it. Best friends are truly treasures that we need to hold tightly. Thank you to Linda for the great picture!

Fast food

When we were eating lunch yesterday, Jadyn was excited that she had eaten all of her sandwich before Karina. (If you have ever been around Jadyn at a meal time, you understand her excitement.) She said that it all disappeared in her tummy when I wasn't looking. Karina, not to be outdone, starts stuffing the rest of hers down her shirt saying "in tummy" with a big smile. Jadyn and I laughed so hard that our eyes were watering.

Dino-hair!

Jadyn has been studying dinosaurs at school. Today, they were supposed to come with the best "Dino hair" we could come up with. It was pretty fun to see everyone and even a little more fun to see the reactions of the other students when they all saw each other. Creative teaching makes life so interesting! Can you tell which dino we were trying for?
