Backseat Driver

Never too young to start driving...

I love playing with my sister! (well, when I'm not trying to one-up her, or playing "Gumby" with her legs, or bounce her off of the trampoline, or...)

Sisters. They were the best of friends, they were the worst of friends. Wasn't that a book or something?

Fortunately, most days they are the best of friends. How fun it is to watch them together.

Cooling Off

It's been a great few weeks of sun and heat... last Monday topped off at 97 degrees at our house - yikes! Time to break out the pool!

The girls jumped right in and soaked up the cooling action of the water. We were tempted to jump in, too, but settled for Jadyn and Karina taking turns spashing us and pouring water on our feet. What a beautiful week!

Bring it on!

Carwash

Jadyn helped me wash the car the other day. I bought her her own rag to use. She was so excited to have a matching rag with Daddy - it's funny how the little things are such big things to kids.

We were almost done, and I was behind my car rinsing off the last sudular remnants when I heard a blood-curdling shriek from the front of the cars. The protective father in me leaped to his feet and ran towards the sound of her voice, only to find my 3-year old covered in soap suds from head to toe, almost to tears more from shock and surprise than any real pain or fear. I couldn't help but start laughing, and Jadyn quickly, but still a bit nervously, joined in. I had just refilled the bucket, and she thought it would be fun to drop her rag in from as high as she could reach and get some more bubbles. Well, she got her bubbles alright! Once she realized all was okay, she even agreed to pose for this picture before being washed off.

That's my girl! -Mark

Springtime

Jadyn is officially done with school for the summer. This summer she'll be taking swim lessons, and not just the "water exposure" classes she's done in the past where a parent is with them in the water and they just get wet. This time she'll actually be on her own with a few other students and a teacher. How exciting! She's growing up so fast.

Spring is here. And Summer is right around the corner! We spent some time in the yard planting flowers and potting tomato plants. Jadyn calls them "Daddy's babies" (since Daddy is the only one who likes tomatos) and makes sure we water them and monitor their growth progress. As you can guess, we're a long way from reaping the fruits of our labor (literally), but as they say, "good things are worth waiting for."

Karina will be swimming with Mom and Dad, too, as we hit the pool near our house during the weekdays as much as possible this summer. She's walking like crazy and trying so hard to talk. She can say "Daddieeeee"and "Mama" and "Hi," but most of the time she just babbles on with such conviction that you know you're missing out on some deep thoughts. We try to spend lots of time outside between storms (it is Seattle), playing with soccer balls and frisbees in the backyard or climbing around at the playground near our house. Both girls absolutely love being outside!
